Michael Saylor has hinted at another Bitcoin purchase by Strategy, posting his familiar orange-themed accumulation chart on Sunday as BTC trades near $78,000 following the $6.3 billion Binance hack.

Summary

  • Michael Saylor has hinted at another Strategy Bitcoin purchase with his familiar Sunday orange-chart post.
  • Strategy held 848,517 BTC as of October 25, according to its latest quarterly results.
  • Bitcoin traded near $77,804 on Sunday, while Strategy’s September 30 average purchase cost stood at $75,437.
  • U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $643.2 million on October 30, leaving October with roughly $516 million in net outflows.
  • Strategy’s STRC preferred stock closed at $99.13 on Friday as investors await the company’s next purchase disclosure.

In a post on X, Strategy’s executive chairman wrote, “We found room for even more orange,” alongside the chart he frequently shares before the company announces new Bitcoin acquisitions.

Meanwhile, the post follows Strategy’s established pattern of teasing purchases on Sundays before releasing acquisition details on Mondays. It did not disclose how many coins the company may have bought or whether any transaction had been completed.

Michael Saylor hints at another Bitcoin purchase

Strategy’s next announcement would follow a relatively quiet period of Bitcoin accumulation despite the company’s continued fundraising activities.

On October 19, the company purchased another 267 Bitcoin, bringing its holdings to 848,517 BTC. The purchase came alongside $193 million in repurchases of STRC preferred shares.

The company raised its digital credit securities repurchase authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion at the time.

Strategy’s latest financial results, released October 29, confirmed that its Bitcoin holdings had grown 26% since the beginning of 2026.

During the third quarter, Strategy purchased 7,218 BTC for $588.1 million but sold 5,552 BTC, leaving a net addition of 1,666 coins.

The company reported approximately $21.23 billion in capital raised during the first ten months of the year, although that money supported several corporate activities beyond Bitcoin acquisitions.

A new purchase announcement would establish whether Strategy has resumed accumulating BTC in larger amounts following October’s price decline.

Bitcoin trades near $77,804 after October losses

Meanwhile, Bitcoin has remained close to $78,000 after suffering heavy losses during the final days of October.

According to crypto.news price data, BTC traded at approximately $77,804 at the time of reporting, gaining 0.45% over 24 hours.

The cryptocurrency had fallen to around $76,100 following the October 29 Binance hack, after struggling to remain above $80,000 earlier in the week.

Its recovery has left the market below the prices seen before the incident.

Strategy’s September 30 financial statement listed 847,666 BTC with a total original cost of $63.95 billion. That represented an average acquisition cost of $75,437 per coin.

At Sunday’s Bitcoin price, the market stood roughly 3.1% above that reported average. However, the September figure predates Strategy’s October purchases and is not a newly calculated company-wide average.

Earlier Bitcoin market analysis had identified weakening fund demand and leveraged liquidations as sources of selling pressure before the Binance incident.

Bitcoin ETFs lose $643M as Strategy prepares its next move

Institutional fund activity has provided a different picture from Saylor’s continued interest in accumulating Bitcoin.

According to Bitfinex, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $643.2 million in net withdrawals on October 30, ending the month with approximately $516 million in net outflows.

Figures from Farside Investors show BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for $233.7 million of Friday’s withdrawals.

Fidelity’s FBTC followed with $201 million, while ARK 21Shares’ ARKB lost $129.5 million. Grayscale’s GBTC recorded $53.3 million in outflows, and Bitwise’s BITB lost $25.7 million.

The selling erased the $440.8 million that Bitcoin funds had attracted over the preceding four trading sessions.

Despite the October withdrawals across the sector, IBIT finished the month with approximately $932 million in net inflows. Other funds collectively lost more than BlackRock’s product attracted.

Bitfinex noted that Bitcoin was trading 7.5% below the average ETF investor cost basis, according to its estimates.

Strategy’s STRC stock closes at $99.13 before Monday

Strategy’s financing arrangements will be another focus if the company confirms a purchase on November 2.

Its common shares trade under MSTR, while its preferred securities include STRC, STRF, STRK and STRD.

STRC, the company’s variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, closed Friday at $99.13, down 0.83%, according to market data.

Strategy’s October 29 results showed it had repurchased approximately $2.04 billion of STRC securities and held $5.07 billion in dollar-denominated assets.

The company said those assets provided 3.4 years of coverage for its dividend and interest obligations.

Strategy reported record third-quarter operating income of $20.91 billion, largely resulting from a $20.91 billion accounting gain on its Bitcoin holdings.

Its net income reached $19.53 billion, compared with $2.79 billion in the corresponding period last year.

Saylor said during the earnings announcement, “We’re at the beginning of the next bitcoin bull market,” citing institutional interest and the cryptocurrency’s position above its 200-week moving average.

Strategy’s next purchase disclosure, if issued, would provide the number of BTC acquired, the purchase price and the financing sources used.
