Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul role=\"list\" class=\"css-1ars4k6\">\n<li class=\"css-0\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-7732\">Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation<\/a><\/strong>: a major change to how blocks are built, proposed and validated, including a new builder API flow and PTC (payload-timeliness) checks. Infrastructure which depends on the block production and validation pipeline should expect to be affected.<\/li>\n<li class=\"css-0\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-7928\">Block-Level Access Lists<\/a><\/strong>: introduces enforced block-level access lists that record accessed state locations and post-transaction changes. BALs are stored separately from the block body and can be exchanged between execution-layer peers through <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-8159\">eth\/71<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"css-0\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-8007\">Gas repricings<\/a><\/strong>: a coordinated bundle of gas cost changes aimed at a ~200M gas floor. Any tooling that hardcodes a maximum gas limit will be affected.<\/li>\n<li class=\"css-0\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-7954\">Larger contracts and initcode<\/a><\/strong>: increases the maximum deployed contract size from 24KiB to 64KiB and the maximum initcode size from 48KiB to 128KiB.<\/li>\n<li class=\"css-0\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-7688\">Forward-compatible consensus data structures<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"chakra-text css-gi02ar\">Plat\u00e5berget has a relatively small but publically joinable validator set. This allows anyone to deposit a new<br \/>\nvalidator and test out their validator and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/ethereum\/consensus-specs\/blob\/master\/specs\/gloas\/builder.md#becoming-a-builder\">builder deposit<\/a> workflows. ePBS is a major change to the consensus<br \/>\nlayer and we want to ensure that all the solo stakers, DVT projects, custom software and large scale operators have<br \/>\nample chances to test their infrastructure. The Glamsterdam fork on the testnet is scheduled for <strong>20th August<\/strong>, allowing ample time to make deposits and prepare for the fork transition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chakra-text css-gi02ar\">Another major change in Glamsterdam is the <strong>gas repricings<\/strong>. These changes will affect a far larger group, since they touch every wallet, indexer, and gas estimator on the network. Please use this opportunity to understand what tooling or assumptions break in your system before the fork goes live in Mainnet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chakra-text css-gi02ar\">The full list of included Creating an account, deploying code or writing a fresh storage slot is now metered at a fixed cost per state byte (<span class=\"chakra-text css-ons8vw\">CPSB<\/span>), charged at runtime rather than up front. The practical consequence is that a plain ETH transfer is no longer <em class=\"chakra-text css-0\">always<\/em> flat 21,000 gas: transfers to an account that already exists still cost 21,000 (now decomposed into <span class=\"chakra-text css-ons8vw\">TX_BASE_COST<\/span> + <span class=\"chakra-text css-ons8vw\">COLD_ACCOUNT_ACCESS<\/span> + <span class=\"chakra-text css-ons8vw\">TX_VALUE_COST<\/span>), but sending funds to an account that does not exist yet additionally incurs <span class=\"chakra-text css-ons8vw\">STATE_BYTES_PER_NEW_ACCOUNT \u00d7 CPSB<\/span> state gas at runtime. Anything that assumes 21,000 covers every transfer, or assumes a single gas dimension when estimating, needs revisiting \u2014 see <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-2780\">EIP-2780<\/a> for the decomposed intrinsic cost and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"chakra-link css-vezwxf\" href=\"https:\/\/eips.ethereum.org\/EIPS\/eip-8038\">EIP-8038<\/a> for the state-access increases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chakra-text css-gi02ar\">Once feedback has been incorporated into client software and the specifications, a non-finality devnet will follow within the month to test pathological consensus scenarios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"chakra-text css-gi02ar\">After these devnets have been stable for some time, the existing long-lived testnets (Sepolia, Hoodi) will run through the Glamsterdam fork.
