He initially estimated the total loss at $800,000, although the amounts he later specified added up to $760,000.<\/p>\n<p>A Rolex watch was taken during the robbery, while the attackers reportedly seized his phone and smashed it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UK crypto trader describes threats during home invasion<\/h2>\n<p>According to the account holder, three knives were held to his face as the intruders threatened to kill him unless he handed over his cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers reportedly tied him up with tape before forcing him to surrender funds held across multiple wallets, including a Ledger hardware wallet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThree knives to my face saying they were gonna kill me,\u201d the trader wrote in a follow-up post, describing the threats he faced during the incident.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The victim said police were at his property following the robbery and that his home had been designated a crime scene.<\/p>\n<p>He reported escaping without serious physical injuries, apart from several bruises, but described being in shock after the ordeal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou always hear about these things but never think it will happen to you,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his initial post, the trader warned other cryptocurrency holders living in the UK about the risks of becoming targets of violent robberies.<\/p>\n<p>He later expressed relief that he had not been stabbed during the attack.<\/p>\n<p>The account shared a Solscan link identifying what it described as a wallet containing stolen funds. The preview showed a balance of 346.12 SOL at the time of the post.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p>\n<p>However, the screenshot does not independently establish that the address received proceeds from the robbery.<\/p>\n<p>The reported theft and the circumstances surrounding the attack have not been independently confirmed by police.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Physical attacks targeting crypto holders rise in 2026<\/h2>\n<p>The reported robbery follows a series of violent attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders, commonly referred to as wrench attacks, in which criminals use threats or physical force to obtain access to digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>In August, crypto.news <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/crypto-wrench-attacks-steal-30m-in-first-half-of-2026-chainalysis\/\" target=\"_blank\">covered Chainalysis findings<\/a> showing that confirmed losses from successful physical attacks exceeded $30 million during the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Chainalysis documented 46 attacks worldwide during the period, with 12 resulting in payments to criminals.<\/p>\n<p>Home invasions accounted for 37% of the incidents, compared with 14% in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>A separate <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/crypto-wrench-attacks-reach-52-as-financial-exposure-hits-124m-certik\/\" target=\"_blank\">investigation by CertiK<\/a> recorded 52 verified physical attacks involving cryptocurrency holders during the first six months of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The security firm\u2019s findings placed total financial exposure at $124.1 million, although the figure included stolen assets, ransom demands, frozen funds and other amounts associated with the incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Europe accounted for 39 of the 52 recorded cases, with France reporting 33 incidents. The UK accounted for two verified cases in CertiK\u2019s dataset.<\/p>\n<p>Home invasions rose from one recorded incident during the first half of 2025 to 20 during the same period in 2026.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Previous UK crypto kidnapping ended in five convictions<\/h2>\n<p>British authorities have previously investigated violent crimes in which attackers targeted individuals believed to hold substantial cryptocurrency assets.<\/p>\n<p>In August, <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/crypto-kidnapping-in-london-ends-with-five-convictions\/\" target=\"_blank\">five men were convicted<\/a> in connection with the kidnapping of two French cryptocurrency investors who were held captive in London for more than 52 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, both in their 20s, were subjected to threats and physical violence before being forced to transfer $30,000 in cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Metropolitan Police officers rescued the victims after tracing a mobile phone left behind during the ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged mastermind remained at large when the convictions were reported.<\/p>\n<p>Similar incidents have been documented elsewhere in Europe, particularly in France, where cryptocurrency holders and their families have faced violent attacks.<\/p>\n<p>In September, <a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/french-couple-tied-up-in-home-as-armed-attackers-demand-crypto-transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\">a French couple was restrained<\/a> inside their home in Al\u00e8s by two masked intruders armed with a handgun and a knife.<\/p>\n<p>The attackers demanded cryptocurrency transfers and threatened the couple for more than two hours while their young child was inside the property.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors contacted police after hearing screams, prompting the intruders to flee before officers arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Chainalysis found that family members and acquaintances of cryptocurrency holders were targeted in approximately 25% to 30% of documented physical attacks during the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The blockchain analytics firm noted that public blockchain transaction records can help investigators trace funds transferred under coercion, although identifying the individuals controlling receiving wallets requires further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>    <!-- .cn-block-related-link --><\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/crypto.news\/uk-crypto-trader-claims-800k-stolen-in-violent-home-invasion\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A cryptocurrency trader in the UK has reported losing approximately $800,000 in a home invasion after three knife-wielding intruders allegedly restrained him and forced him to surrender funds from his crypto wallets.
